Behavioral Technical Coding

2 rounds of conversation about experience and background, brain teasers and coding questions and technical questions - not related to commodities and more general finance questions. Not necessarily difficult but unexpected and fields you haven't necessarily covered/worked on at all. First few rounds seem to be generic and are with different departments you didn't apply for (general technical screening)

Confirmed questions4 questions
  • Derive the square root of a number and other derivations
  • Probability brain teasers
  • Statistics technical knowledge

Coding Technical

First, there was an online coding test that I could do on my own time. Then, I had a live HackerRank coding interview where the interviewer also asked me some programming theory questions, like what's the difference between abstraction and encapsulation. They called this stage "coding & IT," and even though they said later interviews would focus on stats and probability, they threw in some stats questions here too.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • Coding questions of Leetcode easy/medium difficulty.
  • Could you explain the difference between abstraction and encapsulation?
  • What is the significance of the R value in the context of regression?

Coding Technical

It was an online call where only I had my camera on. They asked standard coding and probability questions, but the interviewer unexpectedly disconnected during the coding part, which was quite strange. To make matters worse, they claimed my correct answer to the probability problem was incorrect. It was a really bad experience overall.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Regarding 16 balls, 4 of which are special, partitioned into 4 groups of 4 balls each, what is the probability that the special balls end up in different groups?

Technical Coding

The interview process lasted three weeks. After submitting an online assessment on Hackerrank, which included 5 multiple-choice questions on Linux and a coding challenge about Task scheduling algorithm, I received a reply three days later. I passed the online assessment but was unsuccessful in the first round tech interview. The interview itself was an hour long, with 30 minutes dedicated to discussing my related projects and the remaining 30 minutes for a coding challenge that involved converting strings to formulas. The coding challenge was considered medium difficulty.

Confirmed questions4 questions
  • Can you explain what asynchronous programming is?
  • What were your reasons for choosing Gunicorn over FastAPI in your project?
  • Describe the Task scheduling algorithm.
