First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Squared Away.
Executive Assistant
I applied online and the application had two parts. The first collected my info, resume, etc. The second part had screening tasks like booking travel and meetings for 3 people in different timezones using Google Calendar and Docs. I thought this was easy as I had done it before. After they reviewed my application, I took the TestGorilla assessment. I had 3 days to complete it and was given 3 questions beforehand to prepare for a one-sided video interview. This was nice as I could think of my experiences and draft responses. The tests were fairly easy, took about an hour, and I saw my scores immediately. I scored well, around the 85th percentile. I thought I'd get a call for an interview (phone or Zoom) within a few weeks. Instead, I was emailed an offer about 3 weeks later, which I accepted.
- Tell me about a time you quickly resolved a client crisis. What did you do, and what happened?
- How would you proactively anticipate the needs of the clients you support?
- Can you share an instance where you spotted a chance to improve a process or task and then led the effort to implement a fix?
Executive Assistant
The initial stages were straightforward, but once the subsequent emails were dispatched, the company's communication and instructions became unclear. There were unprofessional responses and gaslighting when applicants didn't anticipate what was required. It appears the company is undergoing significant structural changes and has not adequately trained its hiring staff.
- Can you share an instance of a client crisis you rapidly resolved? What steps did you take, and what was the result?
Virtual Assistant
After submitting my application, I got an email to complete a questionnaire with about 5 to 8 questions. Once I finished that, I received another email asking me to do some tests on Test Gorilla and also make 3 video responses using Loom.

Chief Executive Assistant
Application was easy, then I got an email to schedule an interview on the calendar. I scheduled in July for September (interviews are a month out currently). From there, I had a 25 min call with the COO, which was very easy, and then about 30 minutes later, I got an email to schedule a time with the CEO. The CEO call was about 15 minutes and I received an offer the same day.
- Explain why you'd be a great fit for this role.
