First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sorenson Communications.
Trainer
You'll explain a technical or unfamiliar concept in simple terms. You might be asked to teach a new employee how to use our software. You'll do a mini-training or presentation. Prepare a 2-3 minute explanation of a topic you know well, like handling difficult customers or giving effective feedback. Show empathy and adaptability. Sorenson values accessibility and communication, so being able to meet people where they are—linguistically or cognitively—is key.
- How do you adapt your training approach for various learning styles or abilities?
Senior Software Engineer in Test
Got interviewed through the Trustech recruiting agency. It was okay but communication was bad. Went through 3 rounds of interviews. They didn't tell me anything after the third one. I followed up with the recruiter for like a month and they didn't know anything. Honestly, avoid Trustech, they really don't respect interviewees' time and couldn't even send a rejection email.
- How would you approach testing a feature designed to detect if people are smiling in a video feed?
Director of Marketing
I had an initial chat with a recruiter who spent most of the time talking about the company, leaving me with little opportunity to speak. Despite this, I was invited to the next interview. This involved meeting the team to discuss the role and company culture, which I felt went well. After a three-week wait, during which I informed them about another job offer, I was told I wasn't a good fit. I took this as a rejection, but I'm still receiving automated emails suggesting I'm still considered for the role, and I can't unsubscribe.
- Can you share your background in Enterprise marketing?
Communications Assistant
I applied online and about a month later I got an email to set up an interview. In the email I was told that I would have a typing test and a voice relay test and how to practice for both. To pass the typing test I had to type at least 40 wpm. To pass the voice relay test I had to be able to relay a message withing 2 seconds of it being spoken. I passed both and was immediately moved on to a 1 on 1 interview. Afterwards, I was directed to go and get a drug test and told that it would take about 5-7 days to process my background information. After about 7 days I received another email telling me I had passed and was given a day to come in for orientation and paperwork (filling out w-4, 401k, disclosure agreements, etc.). All in all the interview process, from my interview day to the job offer, took about a week and a half to complete.
- How have you dealt with stress?
