First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Slalom Build.
GTM Leader
I had a really good time interviewing with Slalom Build for a GTM leadership role in Philadelphia. The recruiter I worked with was great from the start, super engaged and thoughtful. They were proactive, clear on timelines, and gave good info about the team, leadership, and interview steps. What really stood out was how they supported candidates. I got helpful tips to prepare and do my best. The recruiter felt like a real partner, not just someone managing logistics. Follow-ups were quick, and they were upfront about any timeline changes. The whole process felt deliberate and in line with Slalom's people-first values, aiming for the right fit over speed. This experience really impressed me with Slalom Build's focus on professionalism, culture, and treating candidates well, no matter the outcome.
- When a customer has a unique need, how do you balance meeting that need with selling what your company currently offers?
GTM Manager
I applied online and through an internal referral. Then HR sent a LinkedIn connection request. We scheduled an interview for a few days later. It was a 45 minute Teams video call. HR opened by asking me the name of the person who referred me. HR had not proactively contacted them for insights about me. The job description says the role needs to occasionally crack Jira. Actually, this job is SME expert for product engineering (one of Slalom Build's nine subject areas), so you better know your Jira. Per Slalom's website, the position was posted 4/9/2025. HR says they are just starting the process and it's early days. The HM is on vacation this week, so they will get my resume to them next week. No mention of what I would like about Slalom or much other positive feedback. No details on process or next steps. They hope to fill the position in the next one or two months. It has been open for over three months. I told the HR that this was not the way to recruit for a position, especially for a company that calls itself human centered. If you want to keep on looking for a few months, have at it. You haven't spoken to my referral, and you think it is totally reasonable that candidates should wait months for your process to play out. Hard pass.
- Do you have any experience with product engineering?
Senior Architect
The people were nice but the interview process took too long and was overdone. It was 5 interviews over 3 months. First was a 30min recruiter screening about my resume and basic terms. Then a 1hr meeting with a colleague and manager for a personality check and to present a case study from my portfolio. Next was a 1hr design challenge about a generic business problem. After that, a 1hr behavioral interview with a random longtime senior employee. Finally, another 1hr behavioral interview with a different random longterm senior employee. Then I got a short email saying the role was no longer available. They ghosted me and won't answer emails asking for a personal explanation.
- Can you describe a situation where you experienced conflict with a colleague?
Principal Software Engineer
I was interviewed for a principal leader position for a Houston build branch. I was reached out by a recruiter through linked in. The recruiter was very kind and held me tight throughout the process. I was setup for initial HM screen with Director of Engineering. In that interview I was asked around general system design concepts and best practices. I was set up for a panel after that out of them 1 was system core design and 2 leadership and behavioral interviews. Throughout the process it was very very transparent. All the people I met were highly positive, had lot of passion for the work they were doing. All seemed to enjoy a lot working at Slalom. I had THE BEST INTERVIEW experience of my life.
- Can you discuss general system design concepts and best practices?
- Can you elaborate on system core design?
- What are your thoughts on leadership and behavioral questions?
