Associate
I spoke with four people in total. Two were associates and two were partners. The interview was pretty standard; they asked typical questions. We mostly discussed my past work, the deals I've worked on, my teamwork style, and my goals for the future.
- What motivated you to apply?
- What is your interest in Seattle?
Legal Counsel
The interview process was super organized, quick, and ran smoothly. The admin staff and recruiters were really friendly. It was a breeze to schedule all the interviews and meetings, and setting up the Zoom calls was no trouble at all. They were pretty open about compensation, which was nice. Whenever I had a question, they got back to me fast and kept me updated on the timeline.
- Could you share specific instances from your past work that highlight your legal background?
- Provide an example of a challenging legal issue you managed.
- What's your background in [specific area of law]?
Staff Attorney
So, before a phone screen, they asked about my salary expectations. Then I had a phone screen and a few days later, I interviewed with a panel. The weekend after my interviews, I was asked for references. I gave them and was told I'd get an update early the next week. A little over a week later, I hadn't heard anything, so I followed up. I noticed the recruiter reposting the job on LinkedIn multiple times before I got a response. I took that as my answer. When they did get back to me, they said the team was connecting after contacting my references (my references were NOT contacted...). They gave me a new timeline. A month after my interviews, they told me I didn't get the job. I guess I was a back-up. What really bothered me was asking for references (on a weekend) after all the interviews, and then not even contacting them, but acting like they did. It was pretty inconsiderate. In my opinion, you should only ask for references when you're about to extend an offer. After all, you're asking for a favor. Anyway, just my two cents. The team I interviewed with was great and asked questions of average difficulty.
- Could you please introduce yourself, and could you tell us your reasons for seeking a new job and your interest in this particular position?
Case Assistant
I had to chase down the HR person to fill a role that had been open for at least six months. Once things got going, my first interview went pretty well. For the second round, I was told I would be meeting with two separate groups, each made up of two attorneys and a partner. The partner in the first group told me I was 'overqualified' and tried to discourage me from taking the job they really needed to fill. While I was waiting for the second group, I could hear them laughing loudly in the next room before they came in to interview me... it was awful. So, I'm actually glad I didn't get an offer from such an unprofessional place.
