First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SES.
Cybersecurity Intern
I had two interviews, first with HR and then with the team lead. The HR interview was mainly about getting to know me and some introductory stuff. The team lead interview was pretty good; we mostly went through my resume and discussed some fundamental security concepts.
- Can you explain the functionality of firewalls and their application in restricting external access?
Accounting
The whole process was pretty fast. First, I had a call with HR, then a technical interview with the manager. The manager asked me about a specific skill that wasn't on my resume, saying that not knowing it means you're not considered. The manager's style can be a bit much for some people, though.
- Can you describe the main responsibilities of your current role?
Software Engineer
The first interview stage involved questions about my SQL and JavaScript skills, and the projects and problems I've worked on. They also asked about my experience leading teams, how big those teams were, and my overall management background. It was a pretty standard interview, and the interviewer was really helpful and made it a good experience.
- Can you fix these Javascript code issues by removing unnecessary parts?
- Perform simple SQL joins on the user, order, order detail, and price tables.
Sales
So first I applied. Then a recruiter reached out for an initial chat. After that, I spoke with the hiring manager. Then the recruiter set up some interviews with the hiring manager's peers. We did all this over Teams because of covid. Lastly, I had an interview with the EVP/SVP of sales.
- Can you tell me about your sales training background?
- What products or services have you sold previously?
- Are you familiar with the Challenger sales methodology?
