First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SES.
Intern
Had an informal chat with the HR recruiter for an IT internship. Turns out they were hiring for a different position than the one I applied for since they reused an old job description, which the recruiter mentioned. So, it felt like a total waste of my time.
- What would your friends say about you?
Intern
There was one brief chat with HR and another with the supervisor. It felt like a genuine conversation about my goals and what I hoped to get out of the internship, and also about how Luxembourg fits into the picture. It's actually really important to know about Luxembourg because it's pricey and rent is no joke. Plus, landlords can be tricky about renting to newcomers without a regular job. On top of that, getting to SES is a nightmare without a car or a carpool buddy. So yeah, knowing this stuff is key or you'll have a tough time living there.
- Tell me about why you are interested in working for this company.
- What are your goals for this internship and what do you aim to accomplish?
- Can you explain your connection to Luxembourg?
Intern
It was a complicated and lengthy hiring process for this internship. The first round was with an HR recruiter who asked some random questions. Then, the second round was with the manager, who gave me an assignment to work on for 7 hours. Even though they seem to have plenty of applicants, they still made me do the assignment. The manager seemed rushed during my interview because they had back-to-back interviews. When I presented my assignment, they didn't seem interested and rushed through it.
- What are your friends' descriptions of you?
- Can you clean data?
- Can you plot graphs?
