Growth Intern
The interview process started with a phone screen to assess initial fit. If the recruiter didn't find any red flags, you'd move on to a take-home case. For the case, you'd be given an ambiguous prompt about how to approach growth at the company.
- How do you collaborate with your teammates?
Software Engineer
I was asked a system design question about designing a Toaster. I had to cover its database, frontend, and backend. Since my role was frontend developer, I was then asked to code the frontend part of it using React JS.
- Design a Toaster, covering its database, frontend, and backend.
- How would you handle session management?
- Describe the components and their communication flow for the Toaster design.
Data Scientist
I applied online for a data scientist job, and HR reached out about a different role, but it wasn't open yet. I scheduled interviews with the hiring manager three times. Twice, the manager didn't show up, so we had to reschedule. The third time, the interview finally happened, but the hiring manager was not very welcoming. They didn't introduce themselves or ask about my background. The conversation immediately went to theoretical questions that didn't seem related to the job. This whole experience makes me question the company's professionalism and culture. I'm now hesitant about working there.
- Can you spend about 2 to 3 minutes explaining a classification problem?
Quality Assurance Engineer
The interview process was pretty straightforward, but I didn't get a great vibe about the company. One of the interviewers was late and didn't even introduce herself, so I had no clue who was who besides their names from Teams. The HR person was nice, but the technical interviewer seemed really annoyed when my answers weren't quite right, which made sense when the other interviewer asked if I handle pressure well. It's important for interviewers to remember that it's a two-way street; candidates need to like the company too. The job said manual testing only, but they hit me with automation questions like 'What test automation framework have you used?' and 'How would you update an automated test script?'. It's been two days and I haven't heard back, and honestly, after seeing the unhappy employees and low Glassdoor ratings, I'm not sure I'd join anyway. Still, it was a decent mock interview practice.
- Can you describe your current project and explain the difference between using SOAP and REST for testing?
- Have you encountered challenges when working with release or development teams?
- Tell me about the test automation framework you have used.
