Maintenance Technician
I found the job on indeed and got called to schedule an interview pretty quickly. The person interviewing me seemed to not want me to work there. He asked what I expected to make per hour. I was confused because I hadn't talked to anyone else. I told him the job ad said $30/hr. He then said that wasn't true and maybe they could do $26/hr. The job was for first shift, but he said they were hiring for night shift first and I would have to work a 2-2-3 schedule. This wasn't what I expected at all. It felt like a waste of time. The company should probably train their interviewers better since they represent the company.
- What was the hourly wage you were told to expect?
Senior Scientist
It started with a recruiter screening where we talked about salary expectations. Then there was a hiring manager interview which included some technical questions and a take-home assignment. After that, I had interviews with peers and a joint interview with the hiring manager and peers, which also involved a take-home task. About a month passed, and HR called with a verbal offer, but the pay was lower than my current salary and didn't meet the initial expectations. I turned it down. HR reached out again a few days later with a slightly improved offer, but it was still less than what I'm currently earning, so I declined again.
- Tell me about a situation where you solved a problem using an unusual or non-standard approach.
Senior IT Analyst
The hiring process started well with a structured and professional first stage. However, the second (in-person) stage was disappointing. The interviewer asked trivial questions and didn't give me proper attention. During the interview, they were distracted, using their phone and getting up, which gave the impression of disinterest in the process. After a week of waiting, I was told they chose another candidate, which is part of the process. Still, the way it all happened suggested the decision was already made before my in-person interview. This gives the impression the process was just to tick a box, without real interest in fairly evaluating candidates. A frustrating experience that raises doubts about the company's transparency in selecting professionals.
- What is the importance of TCP/IP?
- What is your knowledge of English and Spanish?
- If a colleague of yours did something wrong in a customer service interaction, what would be your approach?
Software Engineer
Technical Interviews are really common for tech jobs, they check your skills with problems, case studies, or technical questions. Behavioral Interviews are about how you handled past work stuff to guess how you'll do in the future, these usually start with 'Tell me about a time when...'. Panel Interviews mean you meet a bunch of people at once, could be a mix of technical, behavioral, and fit questions. Sometimes you might even meet important stakeholders, especially if the role needs you to work with different departments.
- Can you explain JVM?
- What are some common concurrency issues?
- Discuss middleware components like MQ and cache.
