First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SCS Engineers.
Engineer
The interview was online via Team Meeting. The interviewer was very friendly and easy to talk to. They asked some questions about my background and technical experience. I also got to ask some questions at the end.
- Tell me about your interest in SCS Engineers and how it relates to your background.
Software Engineer
I had a 30 min call with the recruiter first. Then about a week later, I had a virtual interview with the hiring manager and two senior team members. About another week after that, I had another interview with team members closer to my level. They asked a lot of behavioral questions and were enthusiastic and very friendly. They explained the company, culture, and role really well.
- Can you tell me about the biggest mistake you've made in a professional setting?
Intern
The interview process was pretty straightforward. I first had a 30 minute phone screen where they described the position in more detail and I was asked basic questions about my qualifications, salary expectations, and availability. Then, I had a panel interview where I was mostly asked about my previous coursework, work experience, and if I had certain technical skills relevant to the position. There were not as many behavioral questions as I expected.
- What technical skills and coursework do you have that are relevant to this position?
Project Manager
I went through three rounds of interviews. Initially, my chats with HR and the team were positive and unique. They didn't ask me many questions; it was mostly me asking them. They seemed inexperienced with interviews. My final interview was with a senior person who appeared to have preconceived notions about my past work and how long my commute might be. Even though the person's vibe was awkward, the interview ended on a decent note, with them asking about my availability to start. Unfortunately, I never got a response after that. I think if someone dedicates this much time to interviewing, a simple follow-up note is the least they could do. But, I'm actually glad it didn't work out because I noticed several red flags.
- Tell me about your general background.
- No specific behavioral questions were asked.
