Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SCS Engineers.
Intern
The interview process was pretty straightforward. I first had a 30 minute phone screen where they described the position in more detail and I was asked basic questions about my qualifications, salary expectations, and availability. Then, I had a panel interview where I was mostly asked about my previous coursework, work experience, and if I had certain technical skills relevant to the position. There were not as many behavioral questions as I expected.
- What technical skills and coursework do you have that are relevant to this position?
Intern
I applied online, then talked to a recruiter at my university who set up an in-person interview for me two weeks later. It was pretty informal. Two managers asked me about my personal skills, what got me into engineering, and why I wanted to work for SCS. Since it was an internship, they cared more about my experience in teams than technical engineering skills. They made sure I was comfortable before and during the interview. It's a great company to intern with.
- What's your approach when a teammate isn't performing well?
Intern
The interview process was chill and relaxed. It felt more like chatting than a strict interview. The staff were friendly. The interviewers explained in depth what they were looking for in the intern they'd hire. They made sure I could ask any questions and they answered them all honestly.
- Could you tell me about your biggest weakness?
