First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SchoolMint.
Product Manager
The process was ridiculous. They had multiple layoffs and reorgs in the last year. I was told they don't value DEI. Third round interview was supposed to be with three people, but one was a no-show and another was late. They seemed unprepared. I was told there would be three rounds, but after three rounds, I was told they were at the beginning of the interview process and would let me know when they had an update. This is a month in. Then two weeks later, I was called back for another surprise interview with the CTO without any context. The entire call was about my previous managers and my weaknesses, rated on a scale of 1-10 for every role on my resume. It was entirely negatively focused, and felt like it was meant to belittle and intimidate. Absolutely no concern for psychological safety. The following week, I politely let them know I was considering another offer and asked for an update. After all of that, an hour later I received a generic rejection email. Process took two months. Absolutely insulting and a waste of time.
- For me, pick yourself apart and then elaborate on how your previous managers would critique you if asked.
- Tell me, who was your manager at (x) company?
- What would they say is your greatest weakness?
Customer Success Manager
The interview process started with two initial phone screenings. Then, I had in-person interviews with several team members, usually in a two-on-one setting. During the same visit, I also had an in-person interview with the CEO. While everyone was really nice, the communication throughout the process was actually pretty bad, which I guess is understandable since it's a small startup. I had to follow up multiple times to get updates. They even extended an offer, but then rescinded it. I still think their product/service is great and wish them the best, but I was hoping for more clear communication.

Sales Development Representative
I got an email asking to meet for coffee at the LinkedIn campus and was told no within 5-10 minutes. The interviewer was looking for more sales experience but if they had read my resume my and his time would not have been wasted. He then told me I should go forward with some sales course program and look for bigger companies to work at. 4 hours of my day gone that I could've spent applying to other jobs if the interviewer had actually read my resume and emailed me what he was trying to sell me. He was very disinterested from the start. Win some lose some but I thought it was a tad unprofessional.

Customer Success Specialist
I had a really good time interviewing with SchoolMint. There were three interviews in total. The first one was a phone call to chat about the job and the company. Then I went to their NY office for an in-person interview where I met most of the Customer Success team and also Skyped with a couple of people in San Francisco. The last interview was a Skype call with the COO and someone from the Product team.
