Had a first interview with the VP of Recruitment and HR which went okay. Then the VP called to schedule an in-person panel interview in Oslo. They offered to cover my flights from London, and I felt that this was a good sign. Two weeks later, I traveled to Oslo for a 90-minute panel with six people. The setup was not great: only the hiring manager and her manager were physically present in a dark room (and the latter kept taking calls), while the other four interviewers were on video call, including the VP of Recruitment who "had something to do at home." Two of the interviewers were unfriendly, and the questions were confusing because they stated they were trying not to ask "too leading" questions. They mentioned I would hear back after Easter (2-3 weeks later), but they never followed up. I reached out twice about flight reimbursement and never heard back. I initially suspected the VP might have been let go, causing my emails to be missed, but then I saw on LinkedIn that he had been promoted.

The first interview was with a senior analyst and the head of the company/sector. It started with them giving a brief intro about themselves and the company, then I introduced myself and talked about my skills. They wanted to see how I handle English too, so there was a part where I had to speak in English. I felt pretty comfortable during this first interview. The second interview was in English with two upstream partners. They talked about the role and asked why I chose their company and the upstream sector. They also threw in some logic problems to check my thinking process. After introductions and talking about the job, they asked why I chose Rystad Energy and the upstream role.

I completed all interview rounds for a Data Analyst position in Bangalore and got an offer letter on April 27, 2024. HR asked me to finish a DevOps certification in 15 days and promised reimbursement. I spent 18,000 INR on the course and then accepted the offer. I tried contacting HR multiple times for updates but got no response. I ended up reaching out to the company directly and found out the offer was fake. Even though they used official-like emails, signatures, and a legitimate assessment, I'm confused if the company or scammers deceived me. The company later posted the same opening again. Beware of these fraudulent schemes.

Applied in Aug'23, recruiter reached out in Sep'23. First was an assessment, then a technical interview in early Oct'23. After passing that, a Hiring Manager interview was scheduled 20 days later, which I also passed. The final round was in early Nov'23. So, 3 rounds over 3 months. The process was super slow, and the recruiter wasn't very communicative, so I had to chase the HM for updates. In late Nov'23, the HM called with an unofficial offer, including salary and benefits, and mentioned they'd sponsor my relocation from India to Norway. I provided references. Two weeks later, the HM called again to say they wouldn't extend an official offer due to a company policy prohibiting hiring someone who needs to relocate when there's an office in their home country. They said there was no need for me to relocate to Norway. So, 4 months and 4 rounds down the drain, and the HM, a partner at the company, apparently only found out about this policy at the very end. It's unbelievable.
