First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Russell Investments.
Investment Operations Analyst
The interview process was really quick, wrapping up in just two weeks. It had 3 stages. The first two rounds focused on my work experience and technical knowledge. The final round was more about assessing my people skills and determining if I was the right fit for the team. I got the results right after the final round.
- Can you walk me through your previous work experience and what motivated you to apply for this position?
- What type of person are you, and what makes you a good fit for our team?
- Why did you specifically choose Russell Investments for your career aspirations?
Product Manager
The entire process consisted of four main parts. We kicked things off with a quick chat with a recruiter over the phone. After that, I had a video call with the hiring manager where we went over my past experiences. Next up was a technical and product sense challenge that included a case study along with a take-home assignment. To wrap things up, I did a panel interview with some of the senior leaders.
- How would you design a product to assist visually impaired individuals in navigating an unfamiliar city? Specifically, what was your approach to answering this question? I began by asking clarifying questions to define the scope, like whether the focus was on indoor or outdoor navigation and if certain hardware integrations were assumed. Then, I laid out the primary user persona and their main challenges, such as safety worries, trouble reading signs, needing assistance from others, and the general anxiety of being in a new place.
Sales Analyst
So the process started with a phone screening, then a video interview with the hiring manager, and then an in-person interview. I have interviewed with the company 3 times for different positions, and each time I was told they went with somebody with more experience. About a month later in each case, I saw the exact position being advertised for their Mumbai and Dublin offices. It seems like they're prioritizing outsourcing their work rather than hiring within the US, so if you're a US applicant, don't bother.
- Tell me about a situation where you had to prioritize different tasks.
Senior Software Engineer
so the interview has three rounds: first an HR screen to see if I'm a good fit and if I'm motivated, then a technical round with the hiring manager and some senior folks where we'll dive into SQL, scripting, and how I design workflows, and finally a round with the Director to check out my leadership skills, how I think about processes, and my ownership of delivering solutions.
- Can you explain techniques for SQL performance tuning and provide an example?
