Had a TA call and then a F2F with the hiring manager. I have an issue with the latter though. This was after they already gave me an offer that I declined, and now I know the HM was never interested in me. But if that's the case, why would the interview go on for 90 minutes? Isn't it a waste of time talking to someone you have no intention of hiring for that long? Or is it that you don't have any friends at the workplace, having just joined and not being a pet owner, or actual work that you just need to kill time THAT badly on a Friday afternoon? He seemed way more excited talking about a previous pizza role than pet food.

After applying on LinkedIn, the day and time for the interview was agreed upon, which was quite straightforward. The conversation was pleasant, but it was with someone from HR who didn't know much about the position.

The interview process started with an automated, computer-based screening where I had to record myself answering questions. A big miss was that they didn't properly screen me beforehand, asking if I was willing to relocate to a different geographical area during the last automated question. This is a crucial sales-related point that should have been addressed before setting up the interview, given that territories can vary significantly in size.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

Got contacted by a recruiter about a month after applying. The first step was a 30-minute phone call with the recruiter. They were really interested in my current salary, which I dodged by asking about their budget, but they wouldn't say. Standard stuff like why I want the job and company too. Next, I had an hour-long interview. It was split into two parts: 30 minutes of competency questions with the head of department and HR, and another 30 minutes with the line and direct manager about the role. I also had to fill out this excel form about my salary and all my benefits. This was all upfront, before they even hinted at their budget. Then, I had to do a case study presentation for an hour. They only gave me a few days and the instructions weren't clear. It seemed like a generic task that needed a lot of work, and they didn't clarify what they were looking for. After all that, no offer because they said I didn't have the experience. Which is weird, because I thought experience is usually discussed earlier, not after a complicated case study. Honestly, not a great experience. Expected more clarity and professionalism.
