First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Riverfront Marketing.
Sales Associate
First, they do a phone call to see if you're interested. Then, they set up 2-3 in-person interviews. You'll first interview with the manager, then have a chat over coffee with 1-2 trainers. The last interview is with the hiring manager, and my last two interviews were on the same day. It was a pretty straightforward interview. They did mention that they're always interviewing but not always hiring, so it could take longer than expected.
- What makes you stand out compared to other applicants?
Sales
The first interview was short and nice. The next interview was supposed to be a full day job shadow from 9 to 5:30. I got there on time and met my sales escort. He immediately drove us 2.5 hours to his sales district. We visited small businesses to sell them office supplies. Then we drove another half hour and went door to door selling office supplies in a small town. I felt awkward and rude everywhere we went. He was very pushy, forcing his way into businesses and bothering people to buy ink and printer paper even when it was clear they weren't interested. I was embarrassed to be with him. I decided I didn't want the job around noon but was stuck with this person until he drove us back. It was a complete waste of time. This company isn't worth it. The pay for entry level is only $400 a week plus bonuses.
- He asked me a lot of personal questions because we were together all day, which felt like a forced blind date and was super awkward.
Human Resources
The HR Director reached out to me within a reasonable amount of time, while I still had interest in the position. She responded promptly to all my emails, was flexible with my scheduling, and provided me with the information necessary to come prepared. The lobby is small and welcoming, with a little bit of entertainment provided for me and other interviewees like me while we waited to get called back. I was provided with an interesting and fun questionnaire to fill out while I waited as well. They did well to fill my time with this, and I was called back to the actual interview right upon finishing this paperwork. During my interview with the campaign director, he was very friendly and showed an interest in me and the skills I possessed. He gave me a thorough explanation of the company and what they represented, and answered any and all questions I had very eagerly. I felt good about coming in and he made me feel like my time there was appreciated. He finished the interview with asking me if I had any questions for him, which I did. I wanted to make sure that there was significant and applicable experience that I could take away from the internship, to which he responded accordingly and sufficiently to my standards.
- How would you rate your communication skills on a scale from 1 to 10?
- Can you tell me about a time you failed and how you dealt with that situation?
Account Manager
I applied for a job at Riverfront Marketing a few days ago and was contacted quickly by an administrator. They answered my questions and told me I would learn more about the position in a preliminary interview. I liked that they got to know me personally, unlike other places I applied to. I was invited back for a follow-up interview where I got to see what the job really involved. This was different from other jobs I've interviewed for where I was put in a room with many others. I shadowed one of the top account executives and asked a lot of questions. That evening, I was surprisingly offered the position and start next Monday. I'm excited to begin this new career where I will learn every day. I'll write again after my first 6 months.
- What was something not on my resume that made me stand out unrelated to work?
