I went through a really long hiring process for this company that took almost two months, spanning from December to January, even covering my birthday. It involved five interviews, a special writing project, and a formal skills assessment. Some parts needed fast prep, meaning I spent a lot of time, even over my birthday weekend, getting materials ready and doing unpaid assignments for the writing project. There were also some weird things about the process itself. The HR Director missed our first interview – a total no-show. Communication was sometimes messy, and they didn't clearly lay out all the steps and tests upfront. Just two days after I finished the final test and met with a department VP, I asked about when we'd hear back. Then I was told to call HR and found out the role was put on hold. They never even apologized for the time I put in. Instead, they told me to call back in three weeks so they wouldn't 'forget about me.' Super thoughtless. Even though the people I talked to during the interviews were mostly professional and the chats were good, the whole thing was a letdown because of how much time and effort they asked for.

I applied 11 days ago and got an email the next day with a 24-hour deadline to respond to screener questions (instead of a phone screen), which I did. After that, I was emailed on 4 separate occasions over 2 months with updates and next steps, but they missed every single deadline. It took almost 3 months from my application to get rejected. I felt it was super disrespectful that they kept me waiting so long, constantly promising updates that never came, and then rejected me.

It was a very straightforward process. I spoke with a recruiter, then the sales manager, and then we did a role-play of a business sales call. I really appreciated how the team was transparent about the next steps and the overall process right from the beginning. This opportunity with former teachers that I was so excited to get!

I had an initial call with the recruiter and then moved on to an interview with the team lead. The interview went well, and she let me know the next steps would be scheduling a panel interview within the next week. However, I never heard back. I reached out to both the recruiter and team lead to see if anything else was needed, but received no response. This lack of communication is poor and unfortunately becoming more common. A simple email letting me know you've moved on and thanking me for my time would be appreciated.
