Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Renaissance Learning.
Software Engineer
It was a straightforward interview process. I had an initial call with a hiring manager to talk about my experience. Then I met the team I would be working with and they asked me technical and behavioral questions. The final meeting was with the VP of the department I would be in. The recruiter was helpful and kept things moving.
- Some coding questions and questions about your past experience.
Software Engineer
I applied at the U of M job fair and then got contacted about a month later for an on-site interview. The interview had a hard skills testing session with 3 engineers where we talked about how to implement an AI to play battleship. I wrote a lot of pseudo code and it was mostly centered on problem solving skills. The second interview was with the competency manager. We mostly talked about my personal attitude towards coding and work in general. The goal seemed to be to see if I would be a fit for the sort of office culture they were trying to cultivate.
- How would you design an AI to play battleship?
Software Engineer
It was three rounds. One on phone, one on site and final one on phone. Not very difficult. The process did change over the course of the last 4 years.
