Behavioral Technical Coding System Design

The hiring process for this Staff Cloud Engineer role was extensive, spanning roughly 2.5 months from application to offer, though this period included the Christmas break. It began with a hiring manager call, followed by a technical interview with two team members that involved live troubleshooting of a Kubernetes application. There were also separate interviews with a security engineer and another software engineer. A final call with a hiring manager helped make the ultimate decision. The process concluded with background checks and three reference checks. Although it was a lengthy process with many stages, which was a bit unexpected for a staff-level position, it provided ample opportunities to learn about the company and its teams. Many questions focused on inter-team collaboration and behavioral aspects.

The interview process started off great and seemed transparent, which I appreciated. I was then asked to complete an assignment where I had to prospect leads for Redox, finding contact names, emails, and LinkedIn profiles. This took me well over an hour of work, and I presented it nicely on a 3-page document. The transparency I initially felt was gone when I got an automated rejection email with no follow-up or feedback. It felt off to me, but thankfully I didn't get the job.

Super smooth process. Started with a 30 min chat with the hiring manager. Then there were 3 more 45 minute interviews: one with the Hiring Manager again, a Skills Interview, and a Value Interview. The Talent team was awesome, super accommodating with my schedule and kept things moving. The whole thing from the first interview to getting the offer took about 3 weeks. The questions they asked were pretty sharp and definitely made me think.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

The interview process had 4 stages. The first interview was about my background, what I thought Redox was, and why I thought I'd be a good fit. The second interview was with a recruiter to go over the logistics of the position and what else the process would entail. Then there was an assignment. After this, was the 3rd interview where we really got into the position, as well as my qualifications, motivations, etc. There was also a mock cold calling exercise, it was fun, be prepared. The last interview was to see if I'd be a good cultural fit for the team. Included behavioral questions, just show them you are a human being. I received a call a couple days after this, telling me I'd be receiving an offer pending my references. They really care about "who" they're bringing in, which I appreciated. It means that there is positive change happening.
