So, I applied for a Full Stack Web Developer role at Rally Health back in 2018. First thing was a take-home coding challenge. Once I got that done, they invited me for onsite interviews. There were four parts to the onsite: two coding rounds, one focused on solving a super simple Leetcode problem, the Two Sum, and another on a medium-difficulty string manipulation one. Then there was a system design part where I had to come up with a design for a restaurant booking system. The last part was a behavioral interview. The people interviewing me were pretty good, overall.

So, first time I applied for a PM role on LinkedIn but it was filled. Then the recruiter, Brian, reached out about a different team, so I went for it. It went like this: 30 min recruiter call, then a 1 hour Google Meet with a Sr. PM, and finally a 3 hour panel with a Director, 2 Sr. PMs, a Project Manager, and a PM. Got dinged two weeks later, but they said they'd keep me in mind. Took about 5 weeks total. About two months after that, Brian called again about another role on a different team. I said sure, and this time it was: 30 min Google Meet with the Director of Product, then a 3 hour panel with a Sr. PM and 2 Engineering Managers. I got a verbal offer 3 days after that interview, and the formal one the next day. This whole thing took 3 weeks.

The interview process was very disorganized. HR shortlisted profiles that were overqualified. The process was slow and the HR became unresponsive after I cleared two rounds. The first round was with the hiring manager, who seemed interested. They use a generic job description for all data scientist roles, making it hard to understand their specific needs. The second round was a technical coding interview with one Python and one SQL question. The interviewer was pleasant and confirmed I had the necessary skills. Despite waiting for two months and multiple follow-ups, the HR eventually stated they had moved on with other candidates. The HR was unresponsive, requiring constant reminders to schedule interviews, and ultimately showed little regard for the candidates. This whole experience took two months.

I applied online and then got an email to do some assessments. I had to do 5 of them, which included a personality test, a typing test, and an aptitude test. After I passed those, they invited me for a 30-minute in-person interview. I met with two people, and we went back and forth with questions. They mentioned they'd let me know the following week. Unfortunately, I got a rejection email saying I wasn't a good fit but that I should try again in the future. The interview itself was okay, but I don't think 30 minutes is enough time to really tell if someone is a good fit. I think they should consider interviewing candidates for at least an hour next time.
