Pricing Analyst
It kicked off with typical getting-to-know-you questions, asking me to talk about my background and resume. Then, it shifted to focus more on specific aspects of my degree, but it then quickly moved onto insurance-related questions. Some of these questions were about modeling and were much harder than what I'd expect for an entry-level role. The interviewer seemed a bit impatient the whole time.
- Could you describe a suitable model for calculating insurance premiums, and explain the differences in modeling for a young, new driver compared to an older driver?
- What kind of model would you propose for determining insurance premiums, considering the variations between a young, new driver and an older driver?
Software Engineer
So it was a three stage interview process. The first stage was a conversation about my past experience and then some basic questions. The second stage involved a code walkthrough with another staff member, and they were both pretty nice. The third stage was an in-person office tour where I met everyone, and then, strangely, I was asked about my experience again, which was exactly the same as the first interview. The interviewer was also checking his phone and responding to messages while I was talking, which I found really unprofessional and off-putting, especially since it was a repeat of the first stage. I wasn't offered the job based on my experience, even though it seemed fine in the first interview and after meeting the team and seeing the office.
- Can you give an example of what a typical day was like in your past positions?
Product Manager
Started with an HR screening call, then had a video call with the Product Director which was informal. The final round was a one-hour interview in the Bristol office with a panel of three people. The vibe was friendly and energetic, with some tough questions. It seems like a fast-paced environment where things change a lot due to new sales targets.
- When the business changes the roadmap, are you able to tell the delivery team bad news?
Technical Support
I had an interview scheduled, took a day off for it, but nobody showed up. I waited all day and sent emails with no response. They rescheduled, and I mentioned I'd do it from my car since I couldn't take another day off. The interview was on Teams, and the interviewers didn't seem to apologize for wasting my time and were actually unhappy I wanted to do it from my car, despite them messing me around. I was told I'd advance to the next stage with more technical questions, but that never happened. It really shows how unprofessional these managers are.
