Technical Behavioral

This was a great interview process with multiple rounds including a recruiter chat, a hiring manager discussion, a technical evaluation, and interactions with cross-functional teams. Each step felt purposeful and was conducted in a really friendly and personal way. The interviewers were all super nice, enthusiastic, and knew their stuff. They kept in touch quickly and everything was organized really well. They really cared about experience and if I'd be a good culture fit! It was a pretty laid-back setup, not stressful at all – actually felt pretty comfortable and enjoyable.

Case Coding Technical

The recruiter mentioned the first interview would cover ML and NLP with IDE coding, but it turned out to be a case study without any coding. The second round had two parts: a LeetCode problem about merging intervals and a non-DSA question where I had to write pseudocode. I had a great time with the interviewers, but the recruiter was hard to reach and seemed unprofessional. After the last interview, the recruiter went silent, and I only got an automated rejection after I reached out.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • Can you explain how you would design and implement a system to filter out non-negative news articles from a large corpus, given that clients are looking for insights on negative news?
  • Solve the LeetCode problem involving merged intervals.
  • Provide pseudocode for a problem that doesn't involve data structures or algorithms.

Behavioral Technical

The whole thing took about 3 months, and communication from HR was slow. The first HR chat was split into two parts because we got sidetracked. Then, I had 3 more interviews with the hiring manager and two people who worked there. They were all really into their jobs and the company, which was cool. They answered my questions honestly and in detail, which was nice. But, the gaps between interviews were annoying, and HR kept messing up, like sending the wrong links. I'm bringing this up because the company says they have a process that respects candidates and is communicative, but that wasn't my experience.

Behavioral Technical Coding

Found the job on Ventureloop.com, applied by emailing the company directly. About 4 days later, a recruiter contacted me via email for a phone conversation. We talked a few days later, over the new year. The recruiter was friendly and engaged. He mentioned setting up an interview with the head of data science. A few days later, I got an email to schedule the interview. I sent my availability and received a Google Calendar invite for a 45-minute "conversation" with the head of data science that morning. I was expecting more communication about the meeting beforehand, but it went fine. The interview itself was good; the interviewer was nice and asked about my experience. She asked about regression methods, Python, and SQL. She spoke quickly and a bit unclearly, possibly due to the phone connection.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • The technical questions about Python and SQL were surprising, as I was told the technical aspects weren't that important.
  • The regression method questions were the most challenging, as I haven't encountered some of the specific methods mentioned.
