Data Scientist
The recruiter mentioned the first interview would cover ML and NLP with IDE coding, but it turned out to be a case study without any coding. The second round had two parts: a LeetCode problem about merging intervals and a non-DSA question where I had to write pseudocode. I had a great time with the interviewers, but the recruiter was hard to reach and seemed unprofessional. After the last interview, the recruiter went silent, and I only got an automated rejection after I reached out.
- Can you explain how you would design and implement a system to filter out non-negative news articles from a large corpus, given that clients are looking for insights on negative news?
- Solve the LeetCode problem involving merged intervals.
- Provide pseudocode for a problem that doesn't involve data structures or algorithms.
Data Scientist
The recruiter reached out via email after I applied online. The first round of interview was behavioral + hr round. The second round was a System Design interview wherein I was asked to design a news article summarization / text summarization system from scratch. The last round was coding round with questions from Leetcode. 2 questions with medium level difficulty.
- Design a news article summarization / text summarization system from scratch.
- Hr questions to judge my collaboration skills and how well I fit into the team.
Data Scientist
It was a phone screen, then a behavioral part, followed by 3 technical interviews, and then a chat with the founder. The technical interviews were coding-focused, involving SQL (easy-medium) and implementing queries in Python. Another part tested ML knowledge through a case study. The recruiters were really nice and helpful the whole time, and the interviewers were cool and answered all my questions.
- Imagine a restaurant is experiencing a drop in customers. If you were given Yelp reviews as text data, what steps would you take to help them improve their business?
