First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at PureCode Software.
LLM Prompt Engineer
Wasted my time on this interview process. I went through two rounds. The interviewer seemed out of touch. Despite a good second interview, HR rejected me for supposedly skipping an assignment from the first round, which was never explicitly given to me. I mentioned this, but still got rejected. Why conduct a 1.5-hour second interview if this was the case? The interviewer was very junior, only about 5-6 months into the company.
- How can prompts be optimized to handle a larger context?
Full Stack Developer
So, the interview for React and Node.js kinda starts with a recruiter chat to see if my background and skills are a good fit. After that, there’s a technical part where they test my React and Node.js skills, maybe with some coding challenges or a take-home task. Then, I had a technical interview with some engineers where we talked about React stuff like component lifecycles, hooks, and state management, and also Node.js topics like async programming and building APIs. The last part was a behavioral interview, basically to see if I’d fit in with the team and the company vibe, usually asking about my past projects and how I work with others.
- What are some ways to boost the performance of a Node.js application?
- Can you explain what clustering is in Node.js?
- How would you go about handling memory leaks in Node.js applications?
UI/UX Designer
So for the UI/UX designer role, they usually start with looking at your CV and portfolio. Then there's a quick phone chat, followed by a design challenge or a take-home task. After that, you'll likely do a portfolio presentation. They also want to see how you handle technical interviews, if you fit the company culture, and have chats with the team to make sure you're a good match for their design needs and company values.
- Tell me about a tough project you were on and how you got through it.
- What's your process for user research and what techniques do you like best?
- What's your experience with tools for wireframing and making prototypes?
Node.js Engineer
The interview process at Purecode starts with a preliminary screening. After that, candidates go through technical exams focused on JavaScript, Node.js, and backend development, which were then followed by the engineer interview. This part included both practical assignments and coding challenges. Finally, behavioral interviews were held to check for culture fit, and there were discussions about past projects and future career goals.
- Can you explain how to connect a Node.js app to databases like MongoDB or MySQL?
- Describe how you'd implement real-time communication in a Node.js app using WebSockets.
- What are your strategies for managing dependencies and versioning in a Node.js project?
