Software Engineer
Right after I applied, I had to take an online technical test. It was supposed to be 3 hours long and done under camera surveillance, no double screens, etc. They wanted it done by the end of the week, which meant I had to cancel my weekend plans. Honestly, asking for a 3h test on such short notice felt like a red flag, but I ignored it and aced the test with a perfect score on all 3 exercises. Then, I had a meeting with HR. Unfortunately, just two days later, they rejected my application without any explanation, even when I politely asked. That was another red flag.
- Would you be open to working part-time?
Senior Front End Developer
Applied online. It included a few stages: first, an online quiz with about 20 React and JS questions to be completed in 30 minutes. Then, a 3-hour online technical task involving 3 ReactJs challenges, like creating tabs, a music player, and lazy loading images; I finished with 98% success in 2 hours, noting a potential issue with one test case. Next was an online behavioral quiz with 55 questions, which was quite a lot. After that, a 30-minute online interview with a person. Finally, another technical interview was scheduled through a third-party company called Karat. Their platform was buggy, causing me to be kicked out of the first call multiple times, so I had to reschedule. The rescheduled interview involved 10 easy ReactJs questions in 10 minutes, recorded. Then, 40 minutes for 2 technical tests using only pure JS for form creation and validation, and DOM manipulation. This was unexpected as modern development uses frameworks like React, Vue, or Angular, and remembering old JS methods was difficult, especially with the slow code execution. I only completed one task. I got rejected and wouldn't recommend wasting time here given their outdated assessment methods.
- Can you explain what 'ref' is used for in React?
- What is the purpose of ref in React?
Android Developer
I recently went through the interview process with Proxyfy. It started with an HR interview where I spoke with a global representative who was really helpful and communicative. They gave me a thorough explanation of how the company works and were upfront about everything, which I liked. I also got to pick my interview times without any pressure, which was cool. The technical interview wasn't quite what I expected, though. They asked some basic Kotlin questions, but it leaned more towards algorithms than Android stuff, which wasn't ideal for me. So, while the HR part was great and left a good impression, the technical interview could have been more focused on Android development.
- Can you explain how to create a singleton in Kotlin?
- Could you demonstrate string interpolation using Kotlin code?
- What are extension functions in Kotlin, and how do they work?
Senior Software Engineer
The interview process was really good and upfront. Every step was explained clearly, and I liked how professional and open everything was. The interviewers were friendly, and their questions made sense, giving me a good chance to show what I know and have done. I felt pretty good and like they cared during the whole thing, which shows the company tries to be nice and fair to everyone.
- Can you define clean code within the context of React?
- What strategies would you use to reduce latency when fetching temperature data?
- Describe your approach to managing an API request that has a 10-minute execution time.
