I spent over three months in a long interview process with Princess Cruises. It was one of the most discouraging professional experiences I've had. I had more than three interviews and prepared a lot for each one. I gave my time and effort, but only got a blunt rejection with no explanation or feedback. I tried to follow up multiple times via email asking for clarity, but Princess Cruises' HR department never responded. This lack of communication from HR was humiliating, especially for a company that focuses on hospitality. Job seekers deserve transparency and professionalism. I'm questioning how they treat their current staff if this is how they treat potential employees. Companies need to do better than silence and disregard.

First, I had to sign up with an agency in Brazil and submit my resume. The agency then provided paid training, which they don't do anymore. After that, there was an English test (the Marlin Test), and finally, a final interview with the recruiting agency.

First, you apply through their website. If you move forward, an HR person from Italy will contact you to complete a "one-way" video response interview on Modern Hire. You'll get 7 questions with a 3-minute countdown to prepare and 2 minutes to record each answer, with no "do overs". Notes or scripts aren't allowed, so answers must be professional and off the cuff. Your videos are reviewed by someone in Italy, not the department in Santa Clarita. This is an "impersonal hiring procedure" for a "very personal industry" and job, and I won't go through it again.

The interview started with my nerves kicking me but Catia Lubrano, the lady who was on the other side of the world, certainly calmed me down. After I was calm and in sync with her, I got comfortable and within 10 minutes we had come up with an agreement and I got an offer for $1800. She provided all the necessary documentation I would need to assist me in getting a visa and even doing my medicals. It was quite an easy and not stressing process.
