First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Popmenu.
Account Executive
It started with a screening call and then had some chats with senior leadership. The whole thing felt more like a US hiring process than a UK one. The leadership chats were pretty chill and informal, like a startup, not a big tech company. It was advertised as hybrid, but it's basically remote with some field sales. The founders and their vision were cool. The interview process itself was a bit all over the place sometimes, might not be for everyone. As they grow internationally, they might need to tweak the process for different regions.

Sales Lead
I applied online and the process was really smooth and enjoyable. First, I had an interview with the Head of People. Then, I had an in-person meeting with the CEO, which was quickly followed by a meeting with the COO. I was really impressed that they made the effort to meet face-to-face, even though they're a US-based company. The interviews were casual and made me feel at ease, with a good mix of questions about my experience and plenty of chances for me to ask questions.
- What was it about this role that drew you in?
Client Success Manager
I applied online and was contacted for a last-minute interview that I made time for. This 30-minute call involved me being told that most of my questions would be better answered by other people in the company. I was then invited for an in-person interview the following week, with the date and place confirmed, but the time was still TBC. A few days before, I got a short email saying it needed to be rescheduled. Since I had moved other interviews to make this one, I didn't think it was very professional. Then I was totally ghosted after trying multiple times to find out the rescheduled time, and I eventually stopped trying. I won't be applying again because the interview was supposed to be with senior people, and this experience left a bad impression.
- Can you describe your previous work experiences?
Sales Development Representative
It took 3 rounds and a bit over a month to get through the interview process. It started with a zoom screen interview with the recruiter. Then, a standard zoom interview with the business development lead. Lastly, an in-person interview with the inside sales leader, which included a mock phone call with the same business development lead from before. While the recruiter and sales team were nice and professional, the lack of communication was disappointing. There were a couple of weeks of silence after my second and third interviews because of internal hiring stuff and timeline issues for the role, and then I got rejected. I just wish they'd kept me in the loop better and not ghosted me.
- Can you share an instance where your curiosity at work led to a specific outcome?
