Data Strategy & Analytics Manager
I had an initial phone screening for this role. The recruiter was 20 minutes late and didn't tell me anything until I emailed to check if I was in the right place. When she finally joined, she was unprepared and we spent most of the time waiting for her to find my resume. Her camera was pointed at her forehead, so I mostly saw the top of her head. Her questions were all over the place, and she kept interrupting my answers to say I wasn't giving good answers. I heard back within 24 hours that I wouldn't be moving forward. It was a really strange experience overall. I'm usually told I interview well, so it was super confusing to get live feedback that my answers were "mid," which is literally what she said.
- Can you tell me about your experience leading a team over the years?
Nutrition Scientist
I initiated contact with the Senior Talent Acquisition Business Partner at Pharmavite, who was quick and professional in handling my application and setting up my interview. My single interview was with the Manager of Nutrition Science. Observations: The interview was online, and only the manager was present. Her appearance and dress code were informal, possibly because it was early morning. When I answered questions about my doctoral and postdoctoral research that were aligned with current evidence and seemed relevant, I felt some pushback, as if my answers were being dismissed. I offered to share scientific references to back up my points, but she declined. It was odd that she didn't know the CEO's name, which seemed strange for a manager at a top health and wellness company like Pharmavite. In the end, I'm glad I didn't get the offer; I had anticipated a higher degree of professionalism from her position at a company of Pharmavite's caliber.
- Could you state the daily value for component X?
- What are the health impacts associated with component X?
- Do you personally consume supplements?
Category Manager
This interview felt like a mere formality. I asked the hiring manager about the future scope of the role, their interests, and the type of work involved. They seemed unprepared or uninterested. When I asked follow-up questions based on their responses, I realized I wouldn't get the job, which I think was a good thing given the red flags. People forget interviews are a two-way street. The position has been open for a while, and the last person left in 2023, which is concerning. I received an automated rejection email that same night. It was one of the worst interviews I've had, though at least it was timely.
- What types of commodities have you managed previously?
Insights Manager
A recruiter contacted me about a month after I applied online. Because there was a large number of applicants, I had two screening calls over two weeks. The recruiter was really nice and responded quickly. After that, I had a one-on-one meeting with the Hiring Manager. Then, there was a panel interview with four team members, which was split across two days. Everyone I met was friendly and treated me with respect. They asked behavioral questions to see how I work and think, and there were no tricky questions. The whole process was super fast and didn't waste my time or effort. It was a nice change from the usual, as that kind of experience is hard to find these days.
- Can you tell me why you are interested in Pharmavite, and what motivated you to pursue this particular role at this stage of your career?
