First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Perry Homes.
Buyer
The interview process was a bit unusual. They focused on targeted questions, really emphasizing negotiation skills. It was unclear if they were actively hiring, as the position seemed to be perpetually open. After the final interview with the VP, I had to follow up multiple times over a month to get any response about my application.
- How would you approach negotiating terms with a supplier, and can you walk me through different hypothetical scenarios?
- Tell me about a specific situation where you had to negotiate with a supplier and how you handled it.
Project Coordinator
The hiring process was supposed to be three steps. First was an online screening to check qualifications and get to know me, with a promised follow-up in 4 business days. However, it took over two weeks, and I had to reach out myself. The second interview was also virtual and was scheduled for that week but got delayed by them. During this interview, they asked about my resume and how my experience and education fit the role. The role supposedly needs 1 year of admin experience and a high school diploma, but I have 3 years of admin experience and a master's degree in project management. They mentioned it wasn't strictly a project-focused role. When I asked about hearing back for a potential third round, they said 2-3 business days, but again, no response. They ultimately didn't move forward, stating my experience didn't align with their needs. Interestingly, they reposted the job the very next day, and research showed it's been up for months.
- Could you tell me about your greatest strength?
Executive Assistant
I interviewed with Perry Homes and found them to be professional with a great culture. The HR team was really nice and gave me lots of info about the job and company values. They listened to me and made me feel respected, and we had a good back-and-forth. Perry Homes really cares about diversity and inclusion, making everyone feel valued and open to different ideas. Their team works effectively together and creates a place where people can make a real contribution. Even though it didn't work out, I really respect Perry Homes and liked my experience with their team.

The interviews went really smoothly and were pretty straightforward. Everyone I spoke with was super helpful and nice. It started with a virtual interview with HR, then another with the hiring manager for my department, both on Microsoft Teams. These were done within a week, and then it was just waiting for them to finish with other candidates and wrap up their internal onboarding. The people I interviewed with seemed to care about both my technical skills and whether I'd be a good fit for the company culture. If they like you, they'll keep you updated, but I still sent a couple of follow-up emails to keep the lines of communication open.
- Can you start by telling me about yourself?
- Could you go into more detail about your resume?
- What are your expectations for this role and what do you hope to learn?
