It was a super chill chat, with some techy stuff and also questions about how I handle people stuff. The people interviewing me were really nice. Still waiting to hear back if I get a third interview. They were really open about the whole process and what the pay was, and they did a great job answering any questions I had.

I applied for the accountant position on the Penumbra website. I had a first round with the recruiter which went well. Then I had a second interview with the manager. The manager informed me that they were only hiring for contract roles at the moment. When I questioned why the job posting still advertised a full-time role, she couldn't provide a clear answer. This felt like a waste of my time and a bit of a scam. I noticed they had posted a contract position with the same job description about two months prior. I suspect they might be struggling to find qualified candidates, so they posted a full-time opening to attract better applicants. It's no surprise there are many negative reviews.

The HR manager was good about calling me back instead of sending a standard rejection email. He actually took the time to talk to me after I followed up a couple times, which was nice. The interview process was tough but okay until the very end. They hit me with a last-minute video interview with the director, and I had to rush to make it work with my job. I tried to be as accommodating and professional as possible. They said I'd hear back by the end of the week, but then... nothing. I followed up the next Monday, and they called me the day after that to say 'we're going with someone else.' They mentioned everyone liked me and suggested I keep applying. It felt pretty rough after five interviews, all that research, and changing my schedule for that last video call, only to get a generic rejection with no real feedback. I get not everyone is a fit, but the lack of communication and the vague response after so many steps was frustrating. This is nine months into my job search, and I've done 21 interviews with multiple rounds, and it's always the same: good feedback, 'reapply,' but no offer. The market is rough, and while I can get interviews, something's stopping me from getting the job. (My age!) I'd say apply if you're ready for a long haul and maybe some communication delays, even when they give you a timeline.

The whole process took about seven months and had five interview rounds. I also had to do a dashboard presentation. The interviews were kinda weird, one interviewer was late and asked me to tell HR she was there. They made me keep my video on but they kept theirs off which was uncomfortable. The HR and management were clueless. I emailed at least five different HR people multiple times and never got a response. After the on-site interview, I waited over 30 days for an update and still after two months since the final interview, I haven't heard anything back. It's shocking how nobody takes responsibility or does their job, like basic follow-up is just missing.
