It wasn't too tough. Mostly behavioral questions and resume-based questions like telling your story. Some basic accounting questions too, so you gotta know the three financial statements and how they link together.

Behavioral Technical Group Presentation

This was by far my longest interview process, I believe we had seven interviews, six over Zoom, and then a final in person “coffee” during which we did not discuss the job at all, I assume they were just trying to get a feel for my personality. I felt that the seven interview process was a little condescending—my resume is pretty self explanatory, I have been very successful in my career so far, and to be asked in six different interviews whether I could handle managing an MD’s calendar left me questioning if this was a role where I would be treated as an adult. That said, I was really disappointed to be on the receiving end of a comment from one of my final interviewers about how I was drinking an iced latte with full fat milk instead of skim. As a mid-sized person, I’m no stranger to these passive aggressive types of comments, but I really wasn’t expecting a comment about the calories I was consuming during an interview. Let’s leave the 2005 era weight loss comments with sexist undertones in the past.

The interview process started with questions about credit swaps and coupons. The interviewer became very rude when I mentioned I'm from a non-western country and went to high school there. They took calls and answered messages during the interview and didn't seem to care, even though I got the technical questions right. I was told my next interviews were 'rescheduled,' which basically meant I was rejected. A friend of mine was commented on for her eating habits. While I encourage taking an entry-level role if offered, the company culture seems negative with limited growth, based on Glassdoor reviews. It's a good CV booster for asset management careers though.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Could you explain what a credit swap is? Also, what is a coupon?
  • Can you define a coupon?

I talked to a manager who reviewed my resume. Then I had a video call with another manager. They let me know that if they were interested, I'd come back for more interviews with managers and officers in New York. Less than an hour after I left, they called to invite me back for the second round of interviews. I had video conferences with an Accounting Manager and two executives.
