First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Notch.
Operations Specialist
The people I spoke with were nice. It was a standard intro call and then a more in-depth discussion about my experiences and to see if I was a good fit for the role. My only feedback is about communication after interviews. While I understand not everyone gets a response, if it's after two rounds and the second interview ends with no info on next steps, and I have to chase for an update after being told I'd hear back by the end of the week, it looks bad. That aside, the Glassdoor reviews are a bit concerning and might make candidates worried about the work environment.
- Could you describe your project management experience from your current position?
Senior Backend Developer
The interview process was super smooth and fast. I first chatted with the People Ops Partner who was really nice and went over the role and the interview process. Shortly after, I met the CTO. We talked about my past experiences and responsibilities. We dove deep into system architecture and deployments. Then, I was given an assignment to design a large-scale event monitoring system, with the option to use Python or Go, with or without gRPC. I ended up using Go and gRPC for the project, pushing my code to GitHub with regular updates. After the deadline, we had another interview to discuss my design choices and reasoning. They mentioned code testing a lot. Finally, the Chief People Officer and VP of Engineering joined, and after a brief chat, they offered me the position. It was a great experience overall. They were clear about their expectations and kept the interview loop short, which I really appreciated. I highly recommend interviewing here.
- Could you elaborate on the design patterns you've employed?
- Tell me about your experience with deployments in previous roles.
- Given a specific scenario, can you explain why you preferred this solution over alternatives?
Growth Marketing Specialist
The interview process was fast. 3 interviews. 1st with HR, 2nd with the hiring manager, and 3rd with CEO. First was an initial skills, goals, and experience interview. 2nd was more of a technical and in-depth of my personal skills/experience. Overall it was a fast interview process (2 weeks from the first interview to offer in hand). This was great to see from a company, as well as their ability to communicate with every step along the way. Almost 1 hour after each interview I was reached out to prepare for either next-steps, or a message that they will get back to me after a few days. 1st interview ~ 30 mins. 2nd 1 hr, 3rd 1 hr.
- Can you describe how you'd approach resolving a specific challenge concerning MQL or SQLs?
- Given numerous tasks, how would you manage your priorities?
- What activities do you engage in outside of work to relax and de-stress?
Senior Full Stack Developer
I got reached out by the recruiter for this role at ChefHero, and it kicked off with a phone screen. In total, there were 2 interview rounds. The first was a phone screen with a Technical Lead, which had a quick coding question that I nailed. After that, I got a take-home assignment, a React frontend question, and was given ample time to complete it. Then came the second round - a Technical interview with the Tech Lead and the VP at ChefHero. It was a long one, about 4 hours, but honestly, it flew by because we had so many cool ideas and deep technical chats. This round included typical behavioral questions, web dev stuff, a schema design problem, and feedback, plus more complexity added to the take-home task. Just a couple of days later, I got the offer for the Sr. Full Stack Developer position from ChefHero. The whole interview process, managed by the recruiter, Anahita Katila, was super smooth, and she was always there to help with any questions or concerns.
- Can you tell me about general Web development questions, the HTTP and HTTPS process, and details on server request handling?
- Could you design a database schema for a shopping cart?
- Could you design a database schema for a sales order?
