First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Notch.
Senior Front-End Engineer
Started with a recruiter call about the company and culture, which was chill. Then, I had an interview with the Engineering Lead where we discussed my tech background and I solved a little programming puzzle. Next up was a week-long take-home assignment building a frontend with their backend. The final stage was a 3-hour interview covering knowledge questions, database design, and creating a simple frontend. Wrapped it up with meetings with the Chief People Officer, VP of Engineering and Product, and the CEO. Got the offer and accepted. The process was okay, just dragged on a bit.
- Can you tell me about your responsibilities at your previous employer?
Frontend Developer
I went through 4 rounds of interviews. It started with a chat with HR, then a technical interview where I was asked general questions about the company's tech stack and also one algorithm problem. After I passed that, they sent me a take-home assignment. The next stage was another technical interview, this time covering networking concepts and more specific web development challenges. The last interview was with the VP of engineering. Overall, it was a really positive and fast process, and everyone I spoke with was super friendly.
- General algorithm question.
- Take-home assignment.
Frontend Engineer
First, I had a 20-minute call with someone from People Operations. Then, I was connected with a developer for a second interview, which involved a live algorithm challenge. A few hours after that, I got a take-home tech challenge that I had 72 hours to finish. The final interview was a discussion about the take-home challenge, where I also added a feature with the interviewer watching.
