Marketing Assistant
I applied through Linkedin and got an email right away with an interview date and I got to pick the time. The first interview was pretty standard, they told me about the marketing position and asked if it was what I was looking for. The second interview, they explained the company structure and that I would start at the bottom and work my way up. They said one position, about 6 months to a year from when I started, once I worked my way up from field sales (selling cable tv in Costco), would be the closest I would get to a marketing assistant role because they didn't actually have a position called marketing assistant.

Account Manager
Applied for an entry level account manager role. The first interview was short and positive, just a meet and greet. The second interview, which was the second of three total interviews, is when they finally revealed the job description. It turned out to be nothing like what was advertised; it was a high-pressure sales role selling phones and internet bundles, similar to what you see in big box stores. The pay was $20,000 base plus commission, which is not a livable wage. The role was not about managing accounts or brand marketing as I expected. It wasn't a standard 9-5 job either, with one day off (Wednesday) and mandatory shifts, including nights, to push sales. Benefits were not mentioned. They seemed to realize I wasn't interested after the second interview, as I didn't get a callback, which I'm actually relieved about.
- What are your long-term career aspirations over the next 3-5 years?
Communications & Marketing Associate
Overall, the interview process was quick and pretty painless! Appreciated the quick turnaround times. However, the first interview was really just a quick "get to know you" with the hiring manager/head of the company. Not a great use of time as they won't answer many questions about the job itself. Second interview was at a coffee shop with a team leader. Pretty standard interview questions. Fairly casual. Enjoyed getting to know everyone, but not a great option for someone who has already worked their way up for a few years. They hire everyone into the same entry-level position. Don't let the job title fool you, everyone starts in the same position. This is a lot of "experiential marketing" - aka standing in Costco promoting various items/packages for their clients. Retail hours.
- What is your main motivation?
Management
The hiring process was really smooth and I felt guided. Soon after I applied, I got contacted by phone and email. The person who called was super friendly and set up my interview. My first interview was nice, they made me feel comfortable and weren't too intense. They explained well how my skills would be a good match for the company.
