Do some research on the company beforehand, highlight your relevant skills, and be ready to share a few examples of how you approach workflows or solve problems in your day-to-day work.

Customer Support Manager
I got an email asking me to pick a time to interview, which honestly looked like spam because it lacked any intro or thank you. It was the only company I've ever experienced this with, which was the first red flag. Then I had an initial phone interview with a recruiter where they asked basic questions. But when we talked about salary, they offered starting pay $4K below the lower end of the range they posted. That was the second red flag. The title was manager, but apparently, no one would report to me. That's the third red flag. They also said I'd only get 2 weeks of shadowing before taking over the job. Fourth red flag. Based on everything they described, it sounds like the job is really the work of 2 or 3 people. Fifth red flag. Later, I got an email saying they weren't moving forward with my application, which was fine by me.

Full Stack Engineer
I had two interviews: first with the recruiter and then a backend screening with a senior dev. The first round went well, and I got to the backend screening. I was worried about finishing the coding session in the 1-hour limit, but I managed to complete it fast. They use Python for backend, but I did the coding challenge in JavaScript as I asked. I felt I didn't do great on the backend interview and that my code could have been better if I wasn't so nervous. Two weeks later, the recruiter emailed that they chose other candidates.

User Experience Designer
The recruiter call for Nomad Health was a poor start. After just a minute, the recruiter looked at my portfolio, picked a project at random, and asked me to explain it. Before I could get far, she interrupted to say I wasn't a good fit because they needed someone with at least two years of mobile experience. The project she chose wasn't even mobile-related, despite my portfolio having many mobile projects. I mentioned this, stated I had six years of mobile design experience, and pointed out relevant mobile projects. When I asked if she wanted to hear about them, she scoffed and said those projects didn't seem to add up to two years of experience, then ended the call. Nomad Health should be embarrassed by the recruiters they hire. How can you hire anyone if your recruiters don't let candidates speak? Very disappointing.
- Can you describe the selected portfolio project?
