NJM Insurance Interview Questions

First, there was a recruiter phone call. They asked about why I chose my major/minor and why I want to work at NJM. For the major/minor question, I should tell a story using the STAR method about a project or experience that shows skills like problem-solving. For the NJM question, I need to look up their values like reliability, service, and safety, and mention things I like, like their Teen Driver Safety Programs. The second round was with the hiring manager and involved SQL and case studies. For SQL, I should practice database concepts and writing queries for common situations. For case studies, I need to explain my thinking out loud, ask questions, and use frameworks like STAR to structure my ideas, focusing on the business side and the company's mission.

I had 2 interviews back-to-back, 30 minute each. First interview was with a friendly lady, she talked a lot about her life, and asked about my background, projects, and interests. Second interview was with the director of IT, who was the opposite, very interrogative. He criticized my experience and laughed at me. The pay is $61K and they place you based on openings. My advice is to check linkedin for company needs and mention interest in those areas, like 'developers', for a better chance.

The company's interview process involves an initial interview, followed by two more interviews. The timeline for these interviews isn't ideal for someone looking to change careers quickly. It includes a mix of recorded video responses and live interviews with repetitive questions. After an offer is accepted, the background check process is extremely lengthy. While I understand the need for due diligence, it's frustrating when HR can't confirm job history, delaying the start date, especially since many new hires aren't from the insurance field. I received an offer but didn't start for over two months.

I applied online through my college career center by sending in my resume. A few days later, a HR rep called me to set up a phone interview to go over my resume. During the phone interview, they confirmed details on my resume like my GPA and asked questions such as why I chose my school and my major. Later that week, I had an in-person interview with the HR rep. We went over similar questions and confirmed my resume details again. After that, I met with the head of interns and the head of QA. They asked me about my background and my previous work experience.
