So I interviewed with NeuroLeadership Institute, and honestly, it was not a great experience. The whole thing involved three tasks that I had to get done in just one hour. Now, I've totally done stuff like this before in my career, but the one-hour limit was just not realistic and doesn't really reflect how things work in the real corporate world. Tasks like these need proper thought, not a super-fast rush to beat some made-up deadline. This made me wonder about what they expect from people and the company culture there. To top it off, after I finished everything, they totally ghosted me. No follow-up, no feedback, and no word on whether I was moving forward. It felt super unprofessional and like they didn't care about the time and effort I put in. I really think NeuroLeadership Institute should rethink how they structure their interviews and get better at communicating with candidates. This is important if they want to bring in and keep good people.

I went through a total of seven interviews to get this job. Some of it was actually kind of fun, like the mental agility exercises, but at the same time condescending that I had to jump through 1 million hoops to prove my intelligence. I manage recruiting efforts now at a company and have really embraced how quickly we remove people through the interview process. Our entire leadership team has a voice, but we don’t string candidates along because we don’t wanna lose the gems And we don’t want to waste time on the lackluster!

Behavioral Technical Other

The initial interview was super straightforward with the recruiter, mainly asking about my experience and if I had questions. But then it gets wild. If you pass, they hit you with an IQ test, personality test, and a virtual inbox exercise. Honestly, this felt really ableist, especially for folks with dyslexia or ADD. It's not a real work sim and doesn't show actual job skills, just filters people out who don't test well traditionally. The virtual inbox was a nightmare for me with ADD, super stressful and unrealistic. Had to answer 4 emails in 30 mins, including proofreading a 3-page budget and dealing with a mad employee (weird for a non-HR role?). After that, I decided I wouldn't even consider an offer if that's their work vibe. It was a terrible process, wouldn't recommend.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

Since I had already done the pre-hire tasks for a previous application with NLI, I didn't have to do them again for this Project Coordinator role. Normally, there's a recruiter chat and some assignments, then a 1:2 interview panel. My recruiter, Brian B., was great about setting up interviews and sharing feedback and what to expect. He was really clear about everything. First, I had a Skype interview with two Project Managers, and then another with the Director of Client Engagement and a Project Coordinator. I've talked to a lot of recruiters lately, and NLI's team is top-notch. It's a good feeling to work with someone who cares about their job and treats you well.
