Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at NeuroLeadership Institute.
Business Development Assistant
The initial interview was super straightforward with the recruiter, mainly asking about my experience and if I had questions. But then it gets wild. If you pass, they hit you with an IQ test, personality test, and a virtual inbox exercise. Honestly, this felt really ableist, especially for folks with dyslexia or ADD. It's not a real work sim and doesn't show actual job skills, just filters people out who don't test well traditionally. The virtual inbox was a nightmare for me with ADD, super stressful and unrealistic. Had to answer 4 emails in 30 mins, including proofreading a 3-page budget and dealing with a mad employee (weird for a non-HR role?). After that, I decided I wouldn't even consider an offer if that's their work vibe. It was a terrible process, wouldn't recommend.
- Could you describe a typical workday for me?
Business Development
The interview process was quite long. It started with an initial discussion, followed by three assessments, and then three more 1-on-1 interviews. I get that they want to be sure they hire the right person, but the whole process is really lengthy. They also didn't give any feedback at the end, even though I specifically asked for it when I wasn't selected.
- Tell me about your previous work experiences.
Business Development Associate
The process began with submitting my resume and cover letter. Then, I received a request for a pre-recorded video interview, which is like a one-way Skype interview where I answered questions that were then sent to the employer. Next, they called me for a phone interview to assess our fit and address any questions I had. Salary and start dates were discussed, though I'm unsure if that's typical. The phone interview was followed by three pre-hire tasks: a personality test, a 40-minute critical-thinking test with business-related questions, and a Virtual Inbox task requiring me to respond to 5 simulated emails within an hour. Unfortunately, I was later informed I didn't get the job but would be considered if their preferred candidate declined.
- What questions do you have for us about the company, the role, or the team culture?
