So I had a phone interview that led to an in-person interview for the reverse mortgage specialist role. The first part was with two people who didn't seem super excited to be there. One of them thought I wasn't hitting my metrics at my last job, which I had to correct her on. Then she asked me a question about a time I dealt with an angry customer, and when I used an example from a driving job, she seemed annoyed and asked the same question again, but this time specifically asking for an example from a call center environment, even though the original question was general. After that, a manager joined and asked similar questions but was much nicer. She mentioned they usually hire a group of about 10 people before setting a start date, and it typically takes a week to hear back. I waited two weeks and then called the recruiter. He said my profile showed nothing, so he assumed I wasn't moving forward. However, he did set me up for an interview for the HUD 1 specialist position the next day. I met with a nice woman who asked the same questions and seemed to accept my answers. At the end, she told me I wouldn't be hired in time for the upcoming class because it was starting too soon. The following day, I got an email saying I wouldn't be moving on. The communication was really bad throughout, and honestly, interviewers should have some training. It feels like they just waste candidates' time for their own breaks, interviewing for jobs that aren't even open. It's pretty messed up.

I applied online. Then I got a call and they invited me to come in for an interview at the office. I went and interviewed. About a week after that, I got an offer and accepted it. They said to watch my email for training and new hire paperwork, and they gave me a start date. But I never got anything after the initial 'offer accepted' email. My start date came, and I called Nationstar for info. I was sent to voicemail (several times over about a week), and I left a message. Finally, the day after my 'start date', I got a live person, who indirectly told me my job offer was rescinded. I couldn't get a clear answer on why it was rescinded or if anyone was going to tell me. I was always honest with them, but they didn't return the favor. It was a really bad experience.

The interview started with a phone screen that was supposed to be at 1:30, but the recruiter called three hours late, saying she had computer issues. I think she should have called to let me know about the delay and reschedule. Then, there was an in-person interview. I waited about 10 minutes before it started. They asked me about 3 questions and then asked if I had any questions. I asked twice which position I was interviewing for, and they said they had roles in several departments and I'd be considered for one, and a recruiter would contact me about the next steps. The next day (Friday), I got an email saying I was still being considered and would get more updates. The following Monday, I got a voicemail almost at 6 pm to schedule a second interview. I called the recruiter back the next day, and she said the manager I was supposed to meet was out and she was trying to arrange a meeting with another manager. Soon after, I got an email from the staffing agency saying all offers were on hold for 30 days due to delays, but they were still interested in me. The whole thing has been disorganized and unprofessional, and I don't think I want to work for Nationstar anymore.

I was referred by a former manager who works at the company. He sent my resume to the recruiter, and she reached out to me in mid-November 2014 via email. She had me fill out an online application, which I did right away. The following week, she asked me to schedule an interview, and I set it for the first week of December. I interviewed in Irving with the AVP of my department. He asked a few general questions, then spent most of the time telling me about the role and showing me around the office. After that, I had another interview, which felt like a casual chat, with two managers and the AVP. The whole thing took about an hour. Three days later, the recruiter called to say she'd be emailing an offer. I got it the same day and accepted. I wanted to start immediately, but they scheduled my start date for three weeks later, January 5th, 2015. I think this was to avoid adding a new employee at the end of the year, which was tough for me since I needed a job, but it made sense.
