Sales Representative
Had a phone call with HR first, a friend referred me. Then went for an in-person interview. Was in a room for a few hours, had a panel interview with teams of 2 and spoke with 8+ people, all sales managers and the sales director. Seemed to go well with the managers, they liked my experience. The Director barely looked up, just stared at my resume and asked slow, unenthusiastic questions. Said I've worked for too many companies (3), which could be a red flag. I explained it was an asset to my experience and business acumen. He didn't agree or listen to his sales managers. I was turned down. I was probably overqualified and unemployed at the time.
- Hiring someone with more experience than a recent college grad, what value would that bring to the team?
Coordinator
This was possibly one of the worst and most inappropriate interview processes I have ever experienced for any company. It involved 5 interviews! First, a phone interview with HR. Second, a phone interview with the hiring manager. Third and fourth, a panel interview with 4 people (the first session had 2 people, the second session had 2 people). Fifth, an interview with the director and VP. You would expect all this interviewing to be for a high-level executive role, right? No, not at all! However, some of the questions the higher management were asking were quite inappropriate for the position.
- Can you share how you funded your college education?
- Could you tell me who was responsible for paying for your college education?
Sales Executive
First there was an on campus interview, pretty basic and simple questions for an entry level role. Then I got called in for an on-site interview at the Chicago office. It was a round robin style with 3-4 groups of managers. All the interviews were different but they asked similar questions about how to succeed in sales. About 1-2 weeks after that, I got an offer letter via call/email.
- Tell me about your biggest regret.
- What's the most unexpected question you've ever been asked?
- What is your greatest accomplishment?
Sales Intern
Talked to a recruiter at a career fair and they invited me to interview the next day. The final interview was at their office in Chicago. It started with a quick intro and breakfast, then I interviewed with three different teams. I also shadowed two employees and had a Q&A session over lunch. Got the offer within a week. It's $10/hr and interns can't work more than 40hrs/wk. There's a $1,000 bonus if goals are met during the internship.
- Tell me about your resume.
