Behavioral Technical Coding System Design Presentation

It was a lengthy interview process, spanning 4 weeks from application to offer. I applied directly. First, there was a 30-minute recruiter phone screen about my background and the role. Then, a 1-hour technical interview with a senior engineer, which involved a problem similar to 'word break'. Following that, I had a virtual onsite loop consisting of two coding rounds, two system design rounds, a one-hour session, and a 30-minute product demo. The coding questions were medium-hard, akin to LeetCode, focusing on strings and hashing. System design questions were also medium difficulty, emphasizing core concepts. The overall difficulty was quite high.

Coding Presentation

So, I had 8 interviews total for the Customer Success Engineer role. It included 2 live coding challenges and a technical demo presentation. Honestly, it felt pretty cold. Nobody seemed welcoming or engaged, they were all bored and distracted, and no one bothered to get to know me. For a job that's all about implementation, it would make more sense to give a take-home assignment and then go over the solution together. That'd be more like the actual job and how we'd collaborate. Lots of people seem to agree with this, and even though they say they've heard the feedback, they haven't changed anything.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Imagine a customer gives you API access to their user data. They need a CSV report containing only active users who have a .test email address. Each line in the report should list the user's ID and email, like this example: id,email 4478538,dhan@gmail.com.
  • Could you create a Slack bot that takes employee data from a JSON file and answers HR questions? It needs to handle a /list command to show all first names and their departments, and a /query command to get specific user info like email or phone. Not all details might be present, but department is a must. You'll have an hour to do this.

Behavioral Technical Coding Case Presentation

I applied on the company careers page and after 6 rounds of interview, I was rejected. I got a call from the recruiter and scheduled my first three rounds. The first round was an initial call with the GTM analytics hiring manager, mainly a get-to-know-each-other session about my profile, work experience, and the role. The second round was a stakeholder management round with the head of marketing operations, focused on problem-solving, role fitment, and communication. The third round was a technical SQL round with a senior analytics engineer, involving writing queries for a given problem statement, testing aggregations, case statements, window functions, and joins. After these three rounds, I was asked to complete three more rounds to analyze my project scoping, team fit, and overall role fitment. They mentioned these were not elimination rounds and feedback would be cumulative. I had a round with the Head of GTM Operations for team and culture fit, a round with the Head of Demand Gen for project scoping, and a final round with the hiring manager for overall fit and interest. Each round lasted 30-45 minutes, and I made sure to do my best, research the company, and ask relevant questions. Ultimately, I was rejected because they felt my communication and interest in the role weren't strong enough, and I couldn't articulate problems/solutions well. They might have expected me to have solutions for all their GTM analytics problems, which I didn't know. For someone with 4+ years of experience as mentioned in the JD, the expectations felt too high. Applying for a data engineer or analytics engineer role here, be prepared for 6-7 rounds.

My interview with Moveworks India was great! The interviewers were super skilled but also really down-to-earth, making it easy to talk. The recruiter kept me in the loop with quick updates. What's cool about Moveworks is their culture, which really pushes collaboration, growth, and treating each other with respect. The interview structure was solid: two coding challenges, two system design discussions, a 'bar raiser' session, and then a final chat with the hiring manager. It was a really positive and memorable experience.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Coding problems similar to LeetCode medium-hard difficulty.
  • System design problems based on real-world scenarios.
