Associate
I found the job on a job board and then got an email to set up an interview. They told me the date and city, but not the exact place. I emailed to ask but didn't hear back. So on the interview day, I had to guess between two spots and picked the wrong one. I spent almost an hour wandering around a store trying to find the interviewer. I called her and left messages. Just as I was about to leave, she called back and said she didn't get my email and I was at the wrong store. I rushed to the right store and met her. Instead of an office, she interviewed me right there on mall benches. She seemed bored and a bit annoyed the whole time. It was quick and just basic behavioral questions. She also mentioned I'd have to work Friday mornings, which clashed with my school. When it was over, she said she had more interviews but would let me know either way. I still haven't heard anything.
- Can you share an experience where you encountered a difficulty?
- What motivates you to seek employment with this company?
Store Manager
This was the longest hiring process EVER! It took 5 interviews over the course of 3 months! The questions were mostly behavioral, asking about how I react under different circumstances, or to give an example of a time I had a difficult customer service experience and how I handled it. Other interviews asked about my experience working one-on-one with customers, and my ability or comfort level to do bra fittings with expectant mothers, who can sometimes be emotional. 3 interviews were done by the District Manager, 1 with the Regional Manager, and 1 with a Store Manager from another store.
- Can you share an instance where you managed a challenging customer interaction?
- Describe your approach to handling various situations.
- Tell me about a past situation where you encountered a difficult customer service experience and detail how you resolved it.
Sales Associate
I went in, asked if they were hiring and they gave me an application. I filled out the application in the store and got a call that same day for an interview the next day. I was interviewed by the manager, and the interview lasted about 15 minutes. The manager mentioned I'd hear from her boss for a phone interview. That phone interview was much tougher. The interviewer would ask a question, and after I finished answering, she would just be silent and expect me to continue talking. I was hired that same day as the phone interview.
