First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Motherhood Maternity.
Sales Associate
I applied online and not sure exactly when but got a call back and invited to a group interview. It was me and two other girls and the store manager. It took about 45 minutes and had basic retail questions and also senecio questions. She read from what I guess was their company script. The group interview was on a Monday and she said she was going to do another group interview on Tuesday and would get back to us. I got a call Tuesday evening and she wanted me to come in the next day for an interview with the district manager. I came and met with her and she interviewed me again. Well, it was more like talking about my last job history and ended with 'why should I hire you?'. Once we were done I filled out background paperwork and gave two references. The store manager told me that they would do the background check and check out my references and would get back to me by Monday.
- How would you handle a crying baby while assisting other customers if the mom is trying to shop?
- If a pregnant lady and her friend came in, how would you approach and assist them?
- What's your approach to building customer relationships?

I went in, asked if they were hiring and they gave me an application. I filled out the application in the store and got a call that same day for an interview the next day. I was interviewed by the manager, and the interview lasted about 15 minutes. The manager mentioned I'd hear from her boss for a phone interview. That phone interview was much tougher. The interviewer would ask a question, and after I finished answering, she would just be silent and expect me to continue talking. I was hired that same day as the phone interview.
- What motivates your interest in working for Motherhood?
- Could you please introduce yourself?
Sales Associate
You apply in person since most stores don't have online applications. You need to follow up because they're not great at scheduling interviews. After the initial in-store interview, you'll meet with the district manager. Then, they'll check your references and run a background check. Make sure to mention any childcare experience, like looking after younger siblings.
- Can you sell me this pen?
