First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mission Lane.
Delivery Manager
The interview process started with an HR interview, followed by an interview with another delivery manager. Then there were 5 more interviews, one-on-one with different people from engineering, product, and management, each lasting 30-45 minutes over two days. Some interviews went well, but others were uncomfortable, making me feel like an inconvenience. I got the impression some interviewers weren't sure about the profile they needed for a delivery manager, and the job post didn't match their actual requirements. I didn't receive an offer and got a standard rejection email, which didn't surprise me as I wasn't sure I'd be a good fit. I'd recommend providing feedback to candidates after they've invested so much time.
- Can you describe your frequency of interaction with engineers?
Account Coordinator
Mission Lane truly made the hiring process a fantastic experience from start to finish. I began by submitting a brief online application and uploading my CV/Cover Letter. It was great that I didn't have to re-enter all my resume details, as just the upload was sufficient. This streamlined and quick process continued as I heard back from the recruiter within a couple of business days, and we conducted a phone interview right then. The subsequent week involved a more in-depth interview via Google Meet with the hiring manager, department manager, and my team manager. Feeling confident after these interviews, I received a job offer just two days later. I started work three weeks after accepting the offer. The onboarding and training were also excellent, reflecting a company that seems to understand employee needs, especially in the current COVID environment. I'd definitely recommend Mission Lane to anyone seeking a company that genuinely values its employees, offering well-above-average wages, great benefits, and immediate paid time off. It's a rewarding experience to finally join a company I'm passionate about.
- Could you share an instance where you identified a workplace problem and took the initiative to resolve it?
- Tell me about a situation where you noticed an issue and stepped up to fix it.
- Describe a time you spotted a problem and led the effort to solve it.
Software Engineer
It was a 3-stage process. First, a 30-min call with a technical recruiter to check qualifications and fit. Second, a 60-min technical coderpad interview over the phone with a Principal Engineer. Lastly, a 4-hour onsite visit with four separate interviews: one behavioral with a Product Owner, one executive with a Director, one technical with a Principal Engineer, and a system design interview with the engineering manager. All the interviews were friendly, positive, and insightful, with plenty of chances to ask questions. Everyone I talked to seemed knowledgeable and transparent.
- Were there technical questions that were similar to LeetCode data structure problems?
- Did you have to implement the brute force solution first?
- Was there collaborative work on an improved solution when you got stuck?
Business Analyst
I went through 4 steps for this role. First a 30 min chat with recruitment. Then a 30 min case study. After that there were 2 more 1 hour case studies and 2 more 1 hour interviews. Finally, a 30 min chat with the hiring manager. I only made it to step 2. After steps 1 and 2, I emailed the interviewer to thank them, but then got a generic rejection email after step 2. I asked for feedback but never got a response. The 30 min case study started late and was about a fake company with some data points. I got the math questions right, like how much revenue after expenses, and how to cut costs (suggested SEO, bulk mail, smaller office, etc.). They asked about a commission drop and minimum conversion rate to keep revenue. It was a bad experience with no communication, and the rejection was impersonal since I didn't apply directly but was recruited.
- Calculate the firm's revenue after accounting for expenses.
- Suggest a method for decreasing expenses.
- Determine the minimum conversion rate required to maintain or increase current revenue if commissions are reduced to a specific percentage.
