First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mindera.
Staff Java Backend Engineer
The hiring process spanned about two months and started off smoothly, with good communication during the first three steps. But the last stage, which was supposed to be a "greet & meet" with the client, ended up being another technical interview. I wasn't ready for it because the information I got was misleading. Also, the job was advertised as Java, but the client said it was actually 100% Kotlin, which is a big difference. After putting in all this time, I just got a standard rejection with no helpful feedback. Honestly, the whole process felt like it lacked openness and didn't really value my time.
- Can you explain the CQRS pattern and its benefits for improving read QPS?
Staff Java Backend Developer
I had an initial call with the recruiter, who then passed me to another recruiter (from the client). I had another initial call, and both recruiters were very nice. The discussions seemed to go well, and the only hints they gave were positive and encouraging about next steps. However, I then received a generic rejection email, which baffled me considering how things went during the actual discussions. I asked both recruiters for any reason or explanation they could share, but they completely ghosted me and never responded again. It was a really bad experience due to their two-faced behavior.
- What made you apply for this position?
Android Developer
I didn't get feedback from Mindera after a test assignment. I made a small app with clean architecture from scratch, no boilerplates. It had two endpoints, two screens, one dialog, and Jetpack Compose UI. It was a good coded app, but took my whole weekend. They required two days to implement it. I sent it to the contractor HR, no answer for a week. Then I found the HR who created a private repo to commit into. Still no feedback after two weeks 😢 Another company that doesn't answer.
- Test assignment: two screens, two endpoints, one dialog with filtering logic.
Senior Software Engineer
The interview involved two main stages. The first was to test basic Java knowledge. The second stage was more comprehensive, covering Algorithms and data structures in Java, System design, cloud computing, and a deep dive into software engineering practices like documentation, tools for microservice monitoring, Message Queuing systems, and specifically Amazon Web Services like Lambda.
