The interview process is pretty chill and straightforward. They usually check in about your availability and your background in customer service, and they'll ask about customer service-related situations. They also go over what the daily work would be like, including the tasks you'd do and the working hours.
- Can you describe a situation where a customer was dissatisfied and how you managed it?
Customer Service Associate
It was a simple and quick interview for a job aimed at high school or college students. It happened in the back of the store. The manager was really nice and chill. Everyone working there was nice too and seemed to really care about customers. The manager got back to me fast and offered me the job.
- What makes you want to work at this company?
Store Associate
They prefer business casual attire. It's beneficial to check out their website beforehand since they inquired about our company knowledge. They also emphasized smiling as a key part of their brand. I went through a group interview for a new store location that wasn't open yet. It was my first interview, so I was anxious, but the questions were pretty standard. The job involves tasks like preparing yogurt, cleaning, and operating the cash register. The environment seems pleasant, though the stores often appear short-staffed. I also got the impression that prior experience in hospitality or customer service is highly valued, as the interviewer spent about 15 minutes discussing it.
- Can you share an instance from a past job where you had to manage an upset customer?
- What is your preferred flavor and the reason behind it?
- If you had to propose a new flavor, what would it be?
Cashier
So, the interview for this Menchie's cashier job was super detailed, like it was for a high-paying corporate job. They sent out a mass email for a group interview on a Saturday, asking us to wear business casual. When we got there, we had to fill out an availability form and make a name tag. The owner took all 12 of us to the back room for about an hour and asked us around 10 questions, some were a bit weird and personal, like asking multiple times how we'd get to work and why we'd drive if we lived close by. They also asked about our favorite movie and dream job. After that, we were split into two groups, and each owner interviewed us separately for 20 minutes each, asking more random questions. Then, they went over store policy and told us we'd have to pass two tests on operating the register and Menchie's history/products to even be considered. The whole thing took 2 HOURS, which felt like way too much for a frozen yogurt job. Everyone leaving was complaining about how over the top it was.
- Tell me about your happiest moment.
- Tell me about your worst moment.
