First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Maryville Consulting Group.
Associate Consultant
The interview process consisted of three phases: first, a 30-minute behavioral interview, followed by a 2.5-hour in-person interview that included two behavioral questions and a case study, and concluding with a meeting with an executive.
- Can you provide an overview of your resume?
Information Technology
Had a basic intro interview to talk about interests, hobbies, and work ethic. Then, a second interview involved a case study with many math problems, no calculator. The math questions took up most of the time.
- What strategies do you use to complete tasks?
Intern
It was a pretty standard double interview. They weren't very communicative about the process and not timely with updates. It focused on a behavioral interview, but I think that was only because it was an intern position so there was no casing yet.
- Can you describe how you work within a team?
Consultant
I was first contacted by an external recruiter about a consulting role. We had an initial screening call, and then I was fast-tracked to a Zoom meeting with the VP of TBM. It was a pretty casual chat about the role and my background. The VP seemed humble and smart, but I wasn't totally clear on what Maryville and his specific practice were looking for. After that, I met with team members in person at their Clayton HQ the following week. This part of the process involved several rounds, each about 30 to 60 minutes long, with people of different seniorities. The discussions were engaging and productive. The culture felt entrepreneurial and merit-based, almost academic. I was supposed to meet with the VP again the next week, but instead, I got an email saying they were putting things on pause and would reach out if they found a better long-term fit for me within the organization. Overall, it was a neutral experience. The quick process and the quality of the staff interactions were good. The downside was the lack of clarity on how I'd fit into the broader TBM structure.
- Why are you interested in consulting?
