First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Maryville Consulting Group.
Consultant
I was first contacted by an external recruiter about a consulting role. We had an initial screening call, and then I was fast-tracked to a Zoom meeting with the VP of TBM. It was a pretty casual chat about the role and my background. The VP seemed humble and smart, but I wasn't totally clear on what Maryville and his specific practice were looking for. After that, I met with team members in person at their Clayton HQ the following week. This part of the process involved several rounds, each about 30 to 60 minutes long, with people of different seniorities. The discussions were engaging and productive. The culture felt entrepreneurial and merit-based, almost academic. I was supposed to meet with the VP again the next week, but instead, I got an email saying they were putting things on pause and would reach out if they found a better long-term fit for me within the organization. Overall, it was a neutral experience. The quick process and the quality of the staff interactions were good. The downside was the lack of clarity on how I'd fit into the broader TBM structure.
- Why are you interested in consulting?

It was fun and challenging. A lot of the interview was about how I'd fit in and make an impact. They really seemed to care about matching people to what they're passionate about.
- How do you envision making an impact at our company?
- Considering you're developing an application for a healthcare company to gain a competitive edge, what are the three primary features you'd include, given your knowledge of the healthcare sector?

The interview process usually involves three rounds. Depending on the specific role, you might have a Case Study. The interviews cover general consulting fit, your interest in technology, and your background.
