Audit Associate
I felt good about the interview process, even though I told the recruiter I was interviewing for the Audit Associate role, one of the interviewers was in Tax. Because of this, he wasn't prepared. Despite this, both interviewers were nice, friendly, and helpful. I was told I'd hear back in two weeks, but after several follow-ups over a month later, I finally got a response from a general email saying I wasn't considered. This review is to express my frustration about not hearing back after so many attempts to follow up. I think they finally responded (not directly from the recruiter) just to stop my follow-ups. Being ghosted after preparing for and going through an interview process is a waste of time and disrespectful. It's a shame to write this negative review because I really liked how friendly and kind the interviewers were. But I hope the firm sees this review and improves its interview process to avoid wasting people's time. Time is valuable.
- What's the hardest part about being in Audit?
Associate
The interview process felt pretty relaxed and organized. I learned about the company from a classmate and then applied for their on-campus interviews. A key difference with Marks Paneth compared to other firms is that they send a partner for initial on-campus interviews, unlike many others who send HR. The partner I spoke with had a structured sheet for notes, which was a bit nerve-wracking, but the conversation flowed well, and they seemed genuinely engaged. I got an email two days later inviting me to their NYC office for the next round, with flexible date options. The HR team assigns you a buddy for questions and a schedule for the day. The day starts with a presentation, followed by interviews with partners or managers. I interviewed with people from both audit and financial advisory. We then had lunch with other candidates. Afterwards, back at the office, they asked about my preferred sections (tax, audit - commercial, real estate, not for profit) and my decision deadline. Everyone I met was really friendly and sincere!

Marketing Assistant
I applied on indeed and got an email from an HR coordinator about 5 minutes later to call her, which I did. About 2 days later, another HR coordinator emailed me for a call, and I called back right away. We chatted about basic stuff like my resume. She mentioned that the next step would be someone from the marketing team reaching out to schedule an in-office interview within about a week. However, right after we hung up, the same HR coordinator emailed me asking if I could come in the next day. I said yes and that I was available anytime. She didn't reply for about 4 hours, and since it was getting late, I emailed again to ask about the time. About an hour later, she replied saying she'd let me know tomorrow because the person I was supposed to interview with hadn't responded to her. The next day, I waited around for an email that never came. I eventually emailed her about the interview, and she replied 2 hours later saying the interviewer still hadn't responded and that we'd likely schedule something for after the weekend since it was Friday. I was annoyed because I had wasted my whole day thinking I'd be coming in. Now it's Monday, and again, I'm just waiting for an email that never arrived. Finally, at 5 pm, I got an email saying they weren't moving forward with my application. I'm sorry, but this whole experience was incredibly unprofessional. Why email me to come in if no one had confirmed it? I don't get how you can make someone wait around all day for an interview and then just cancel everything. I'm furious. So unprofessional.
- Can you tell me about your resume?
Receptionist
I had a phone interview with the HR Manager, and then a second phone interview with another HR Manager. It went well, and they invited me to the office to see me in person. When I arrived, dressed in a suit, it turned out my appearance wasn't what they were expecting – they preferred a more 'trashy' look over 'classy.' They then had me interview with the main receptionist, who was dressed in a short skirt and an ill-fitting sweater. But, to each their own.
