First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mariano's.
Overnight Stocker
The interview is pretty quick and they ask a few questions about customer service. They take a quick look at your previous jobs and ask what you're hoping to get out of this one. It's a pretty standard interview, and usually a second manager jumps in to ask some general questions too. It's all about customer service.
- What would you do if you saw a customer checking out with a broken carton of eggs?
Pharmacy Technician
First, you do an online application and pre-screening. Then, there's an in-person interview with the store manager. After that, another in-person interview with the pharmacy supervisor. Finally, they extend a job offer and you complete the pre-employment requirements. The whole thing takes about 3 months.
- Can you share an instance where you exceeded expectations?
Bakery Clerk
It was a one on one interview and they asked some easy questions. They asked about my availability and also some hypothetical questions about what I would do if I saw a customer with a defective item or if I dropped their eggs.
- What makes you want to work here?
- What are your goals for the next six months?
Cashier
The interview was conducted by a very nice person, but they left the room twice during the interview. While they were gone, I overheard employees gossiping, which seemed like a toxic environment. The place also appeared to be dirty and understaffed. Despite saying "yes", I don't think I will be accepting the position.
- Are you okay with working specific days that you already told us were a problem?
